THE AUSSIES 2015 MEDIA LAUNCH - Friday March 20 - 10am
Surf Life Saving Australia, March 19, 2015: This year’s Championships at North Kirra Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland between April 11-19 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first staging of The Aussies.
It is expected to bring together more than 7,000 Surf Life Saving competitors, representing their Surf Clubs from across the country, for the chance to be deemed Australia’s best.

Athletes attending this Friday's 100 Years Celebration Launch of the Aussies at North Kirra are:
- Shannon Eckstein (Northcliffe):- 6-time Australian Ironman Champion
- Liz Pluimers (North Burleigh): - 2-time Coolangatta Gold Champion - Defending Ironwoman Champion
- Tom Fraser Holmes (Manly): - 2012 London Olympic swimmer - U15 Australian Ironman champion (2006). 2016 Rio hopeful.
- Naomi Flood (Manly): - 2012 London Olympic kayaker - Six Time Australian single ski champion. 2016 Rio hopeful.
- John Mills OAM (Freshwater): - Legendary 4-time Australian R and R Champion with Freshwater in the 50s and 60s and at age 87 one of
The Aussies oldest surviving gold medallists who attended his first Championships in 1946. Still an active surf sports coach in Coffs Harbour.
- Bondi Youth R and R Team- Representing Australia's oldest club and hosts of the 1915 Championships where the club won the R and R Premiership and Open Surf Race
LAUNCH NOTES: - The launch will be held under a marquee on the beach in front of the North Kirra SLSC so we advise to get there early to set up.
