Profile: Chris McCormack or "Macca" is a name synonymous with the sport of triathlon not only in Australia but around the world, a popular figure who has swum, ridden and run his way into legendary status in the non-stop multi-sport world of triathlon. An ITU World Olympic distance champion in  Perth in 1997 and overall ITU World Cup champion in the same year, McCormack was primed for selection when triathlon was included in the 2000 Olympics in his home town Sydney but was one of the unfortunate ones to miss selection. He would go on to conquer the triathlon world in the US, adding over 30 titles before adding the Goodwill Games to his list of achievements against the top 30 athletes in the world as he dominated short course triathlon racing in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He was picked for the Australian Team to represent at the Commonwealth Games in England in 2002, and won three Triathlete of the Year awards for his racing during this period, where he was ranked number one for 26 months. McCormack would make the successful transition into Ironman racing and in 2007 and 2010 reached the pinnacle of the sport, winning the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon World Championships."Macca" is now back on the Olympic trail, being added to the Australian Olympic Shadow Squad for the 2012 London Olympics after competing in the ITU World Championship Series throughout 2011, hoping to become an Olympic rookie at the rip old age of 38.
