ON THIS DAY

Parramatta beat Canterbury 4-2 in front of 45,843 at the SCG on this day in 1986 in the lowest-scoring and first try-less grand final since 1910. It was the final game for Eels legends Mick Cronin and Ray Price, having shared four premierships and 29 finals matches between 1977 and 1986. Peter Sterling was awarded the inaugural Clive Churchill medal.
