CHANGE OF FORTUNE FOR PLUIMERS AND ECKSTEIN IN NUTRI-GRAIN BATTLE (Surf Sports) liz pluimers winner round 4 1photo harvie allison.jpgFebruary 7: It was a different day and different luck for Shannon Eckstein and Elizabeth Pluimers as they bounced back to take out their respective round four races in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series at Alexandra Headland today.

The Northcliffe pair was disappointed with their results yesterday - Eckstein beaten by Ky Hurst's miracle last-to-first wave, while Pluimers struggled so badly she was ready to put her ski and board on top of her car and drive home.

KING KY BACK TO RULE THE WAVES IN NUTRI-GRAIN THRILLER (Surf Sports) ky hurst wins round three kng 1photo harvie allison.jpgFebruary 6: Surf lifesaving superstar Ky Hurst turned back the clock with a staggering last to first win in round three of the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series at Alexandra Headlands on Queensland's Sunshine Coast today.

Hurst (Kurrawa) was trailing the field after being dumped off his ski while leading in the second leg of today's race but the four-times national Ironman champion produced a piece of surf magic in the final swim leg.

josh minogue 1photo harvie allison.jpgFebruary 5: As some of Ironman racing's young guns qualified to contest this weekend's rounds of the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series at Alexandra Headland, a legend of the sport suffered more heartbreak.

Mooloolaba's Josh Minogue and Harriett Brown of Northcliffe won the men's and women's qualifying trials this afternoon but veteran Dean Mercer broke down with what appeared to be a reoccurrence of the calf injury that kept him out of the first two rounds of the series.

ECKSTEIN RACING TOWARDS A PERFECT SERIES (Surf Sports)

shannon eckstein and matt poole 1photo harvie allison.jpgFebruary 5: Shannon Eckstein will step up his bid to go through the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series undefeated when he contests rounds three and four on the Sunshine Coast tomorrow and Sunday.

Eckstein won the opening two rounds at Kurrawa three weeks ago and has his sights on matching that effort at Alexandra Headland this weekend before heading to the final at North Cronulla on February 21.

THE BIGGER THE BETTER SAYS HAYLEY BATEUP (Surf Sports) hayley bateup claims round 2 1photo harvie allison.jpgFebruary 4: Triple Coolangatta Gold winner Hayley Bateup is hoping rounds three and four of the 2010 Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series at Alexandra Headland this weekend serves up some big surf - she'll be ready for it.

"The bigger it is the better I'll like it actually," said 30-year-old Bateup, who suffered a perforated eardrum and had her board snapped in half in heavy two-metre conditions at last year's Sunshine Coast round at Coolum.
